The new evolution of Noctua comes to us in a 12 cm fan shape. Will it really improve the NF-S12?

Ending March we could analyze 2 Noctua fans, the NF-S12 and the NF-R8 , becoming loyal partners. Because of its design, efficiency and low sonority we considered that they were a new comparative base. Today we test a new step forwards to improve the excellent: the new NF-P12.

 1- Manufacturer Introduction: Noctua.

   What does Noctua means?

"A little owl, Athena Noctua, is the symbol of the Greek goddess Athena, who represents wisdom, science and strategy. She has always preferred the cleverest among Greek heroes like Ulysses, who face his adventures by using roguishness instead of force. Until now, owl represents intelligence and prudence, its human-like face symbolizes attention and communication. From Noctua, we follow the mark of its calm and necessary observation all night, as its silent flight and its economy use of its own abilities for the attack.”

Leaving mythology apart, let’s get to the point. Noctua is the product of a collaboration between two big cooling companies as Rascom Computerdistribution Ges.m.b.H and taiwanese Kolink International Corporation together with one of the most innovating institutions in the same field – the Austrian Institute of Heat Transmission and Coolers Technology (Österreichisches Institut für Wärmeübertragung und Ventilatorentechnik, ÖIWV). Impressive, right? But, the cooling market is a undermined field by a lot of manufacturers, what can Noctua offer to make us choose them?

Well, working with the Austrian Institute of Heat Transmission and Coolers Technology should have very important results. We notice at first in the blades design. They are not only perfectly smoothed, but also they have no edges and a curvature that get to reduce the noise in a 10%. Furthermore, the body that resorts the motor has no edges neither, so the air friction is more fluid. Likewise, they are using an auto bearing system to spin correctly. This auto bearing is self-stabilized and has pressurized oil that keeps applying just with the cooler use. We all have had some coolers that squeak when they lose the lubrication and some even stop. We cannot trust the correct working of our machines to coolers that can stop if we are not taking care of them constantly, and Noctua avoids this.
